Sovereignty over yourself is not a service. It is a right.

Today you are a recordSUBJECT · 00.0%. Tomorrow you are sovereignNO CLAIM · YOURS.

Your face, your address, your habits, your children — collected by people you never met and sold to people you'll never see. SOVRAN finds it, takes it down, and shows you the surveillance you move through every day.

Coming to SOVRAN+ · the big one

Get pulled over? Say one word.

Your camera records. Someone you trust is told where you are. The footage is safe off your phone before the stop is even over. You never touch your phone — and a sticker on the glass tells everyone, plainly, that it is happening.

  • Records, pins your location, and alerts a contact the instant you trigger it
  • The footage leaves your phone in seconds, so it survives even if the phone does not
  • Anchored publicly, so no one can claim it was edited
  • Fully disclosed — the sticker is the point. Nothing hidden, nothing covert

“A record you do not control and cannot lose is a form of self-protection.”
Recording police in public is protected by the First Amendment. The Witness is built entirely on that right — openly, with notice given, never in secret.

Where things stand

Not fear. A count of the doors left open — and how to close each one.

None of this is hidden. It is public, documented, and almost nobody has the hours to act on it. The rights already exist — what's missing is anyone making them usable. So every number below comes with the thing you can do about it.

What it does

Ten ways to take yourself back.

Rights you already hold are scattered across a dozen agencies and hundreds of forms. SOVRAN turns them into one place you actually check. Eight are live and free today. The rest are honestly labelled as launching soon — we would rather tell you that than imply otherwise.

Free forever · Launching soon

See yourself the way a stranger does

Answer a few questions and find out what someone could learn about you in twenty minutes — where you live, where you train, what your car looks like, who your family is. For most people it's the first honest picture they've ever had of themselves.

  • Ranked by what's exposed and what it actually costs you
  • Every source named, so you know exactly who to go after
  • Run it again any time to see what really changed
Free forever · Live now

Read back everything you've already published

Every platform is legally required to hand you a full export of your own data. Download yours, drop the file into SOVRAN, and it is read entirely on your device — no account connection, no passwords, no tokens for anyone to steal.

  • Every geotag, EXIF coordinate, and location tag you ever attached to a post
  • Photos that show a house number, a school logo, a plate, a gate code, a badge
  • Patterns in when and where you post that reveal a schedule you didn't mean to publish
  • A pre-post check that flags all of it before you share the next one

Find yourself on the sites that sell you

People-search sites publish your photo, your address, your phone number and your relatives to anyone who types your name. You give us a name to search. Candidate profiles come back to your device, and your own phone works out which ones are actually you by matching faces locally.

Your face never uploads. Neither does the answer. And every confirmed match arrives with the removal request already written.

Why it works this wayThe obvious version of this is to crawl the web and index every face in it. That is precisely what Clearview AI built, and it is the most-condemned product this industry has produced — a biometric database of millions of people who never agreed to be in it. So we build the opposite. The only face geometry that exists anywhere in this process is yours, on your own hardware, because you asked for it. There is no endpoint that takes a face and returns a name — not disabled, not built. You cannot look up a stranger, and neither can anyone who takes our servers.

Take it down and keep it down

Broker deletions, copyright claims on photos you took yourself, and non-consensual image removals — filed for you, tracked to a real answer, and refiled the moment someone quietly puts it back.

Free forever · Live now

See what sees you

Plate readers, camera networks, and who operates them, drawn from a public database and plotted on your device. No location permission, no address search, and no map tiles — because a normal map quietly reports exactly where you are looking.

Free forever. This is public records mapped by volunteers. It was never ours to sell.

Awareness, not evasionThis shows you what surveillance exists around you, who operates it, and how to question it. It is not a tool for avoiding a lawful investigation, and we are not going to build one.

Or once, and done

Leaving the country. Going properly off-grid. Closing a chapter and not opening another. The Clean Break is a single sweep — every broker, every takedown route, everything a year of subscription would do, in one pass — and then it is finished. One payment, no renewal, no relationship afterwards.

It works because brokers repopulate from new public records. If your life is about to stop producing them, one sweep holds. If it isn't, we will tell you so rather than sell you this.

The last word

Name someone you trust. If you die or go dark, they can erase everything SOVRAN holds and fire every removal request you had queued — without ever holding your keys while you are alive. Your record should not outlive you unless you decided it should.

  • Your key is split, so your successor holds a piece that is useless on its own
  • Nothing triggers until repeated proof-of-life checks have gone unanswered for weeks
  • Every stage notifies you first, with a one-tap cancel
  • A mandatory cooling-off period even after your successor confirms

That last part matters more than the feature does. A switch someone else can pull is a weapon pointed at exactly the people this is meant to protect.

The charter

Sovereignty means
no one else holds
the keys.

Every service that protects your identity collects your identity first. That makes it the most valuable target in the room — for a breach, for a broker, for a subpoena. It is the reason so many privacy tools eventually become the thing they were built against.

So SOVRAN is built to be worthless to anyone who takes it. These are not promises in a policy that changes when the company does. They are the shape of the system. A promise can be broken overnight. An architecture has to be rebuilt.

I

Your photographs stay on your device

Faces are matched locally. The image is never uploaded, and there is no copy of it to lose.

II

Your identity is confirmed, not collected

A third party checks your ID and tells us yes. We never receive the document, the number, or the photograph.

III

Your notes are sealed before they leave you

Encrypted with a key derived from your passphrase. We hold ciphertext and cannot open it — not for a court, not for ourselves.

IV

Nothing you search for is written down

No query logs. No history. No behavioral profile. There is no record of your use to hand to anyone.

V

We never sell, and never take money from anyone who does

No advertising. No data brokers. No investor who needs us to change our mind about that later.

VI

You can end it completely

Delete your account and your email leaves with it. What we hold on you goes to zero, because there was almost nothing to begin with.

VII

We never block you for how you connect

Use a VPN. Use Tor. We will not throttle you, challenge you, or treat you as suspicious for it. Protecting yourself is not suspicious behaviour — it is the behaviour we recommend.

VIII

Nobody is turned away for lack of money

If you can’t afford it, you say so and we believe you. No proof, no application, no review. We will not ask you to document being poor in order to be protected. How this works →

For families

Your child's record started before they could type.

By the time a kid is old enough to consent, thousands of images and details about them are already public — nearly all of it posted by adults who love them. SOVRAN helps parents close that down without ever building a tool that tracks a child.

Where we draw the lineEverything here is about what you have published, never about monitoring your child. We will not build tracking, location sharing, or message reading for kids. Tools like that are one small step from being used against the person they claim to protect.

Audit what you posted

Point it at your own accounts. Find the school name on the jersey, the street sign behind the birthday cake, the geotag on the soccer field — and clear it in a few taps.

Opt out of the directory

Schools can release your child's name, photo, and address unless you say no in writing. We tell you which form, which office, which deadline, in your district.

Know the emergency path

If images of your child ever surface, the removal routes exist and they move fast. We keep them one tap away so nobody has to learn them in a panic.

What we charge for, and what we never will

A right is free. The work of defending it is not.

You have a right to counsel. Lawyers still bill. The right is what nobody can take from you — the labor is what someone has to do. We charge for the labor and we never, ever charge for the right.

Knowing is always free

What's exposed about you. What rights you hold. What surveillance sits on your street. How to file every request yourself, by hand, without us. Paywalling that would mean selling you the right itself, and we won't.

Doing it for you is the paid part

Filing hundreds of deletions, chasing them to a real answer, and refiling when they quietly repopulate — that is ongoing human and machine work with a real cost. That's SOVRAN+.

And nobody is turned away for lack of money

The people who most need protection are very often the people least able to pay for it — someone leaving an abusive home, someone on disability, someone whose immigration status makes every record dangerous. So if you can't afford SOVRAN+, you tell us, and we believe you. No proof of income, no benefits letter, no case number, no review. A link that says you need it, and the price changes.

We won't ask you to document being poor in order to be protected. Requiring that proof would mean building a database of exactly who is vulnerable — which is the same database this whole project exists to argue against. 10% of every paid subscription funds this tier — not “a portion”, ten percent, and we will raise it before we ever lower it.

The long view

We are the first generation who have to learn this. We will not be the last who need it.

Every year we treat self-preservation as optional, the gap widens between what is known about us and what we know about ourselves. That gap is where the harm lives. SOVRAN exists to close it — and to prove that a tool built to protect people never has to collect them first.
